Biog
Brian is an experienced IS professional, with a career spanning management and operational roles in commercial and public sector organisations (Shell, Accenture, Standard Chartered Bank, Allied Irish Banks, Capgemini). Until September 2017, he worked at Kainos Group plc, a digital technology company. In addition to lecturing on Enterprise Information Systems and Professional Issues in Computing, Brian is director of undergraduate and postgraduate Chartered Manager degree apprenticeship programmes in the School of Management. Brian holds a degree in Engineering from Trinity College, Dublin and a PhD in Information Systems from the University of London. In 2016, Brian was appointed Honorary Professor in Practice at the University of Wales.
Research areas
Brian's PhD researched the economic and structural impact of offshoring on global technology companies. Recent publications address varied aspects of Enterprise Information Systems, including history of EIS and EIS in the public sector. His teaching focus coincides with his current research interests, which include Digital Surveillance, Data Privacy and Computer Ethics (particularly with regard to AI).
