MSc in Business Technologies

Module Outlines

The programme is delivered by means of formal lectures, tutorials, computer laboratory-based practical activities, group work and presentations. There is a significant element of practical coursework which the students carry out sometimes in supported lab sessions and also in the student's own time. Each student also undertakes an individual project of their own devising and is supervised by academic staff at the Department of Computer Science, or possibly by two academic staff from the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Management. The project provides an opportunity for students to investigate an aspect of the subject that particularly interests them.

All projects involve technology development and/or implementation, and discuss or evaluate technology with regards to how it affects organisational knowledge, social capital, and quality of communication in an organisation.

All students take the compulsory modules Research Methods in Management, Intellectual Capital and Competitiveness, and Data and Knowledge Management, and undertake a substantial project. Students should also select five modules from the following groups:
