MSc Information Technology
Aims of the Programme
This programme provides students who hold a first degree in a subject other than computing with knowledge of Information Systems, Computers and Computing, and the management of IT.
The programme covers practical aspects of information systems development, modern management topics, and professionalism in IT. It is suited to those who wish to embark on a career in the IT industry, and to those who already have experience of working in IT and wish to broaden their knowledge and skills.
In addition to seven taught modules, students undertake an individual project, which may be either an Implementation project to design and develop a substantial information system, or a Research Dissertation in the management of IT.
Students who complete this programme will have gained in-depth knowledge which they will be able to use in
- analysis of problems arising in information systems and in the management of IT
- evaluation of technology options
- information systems development
- technology-driven organisational change
- technology-based innovation
Special Features
The programme has been designed to meet the needs of both full-time students who wish to advance their knowledge of computing, information systems and the management of IT before embarking on a career in the IT industry, and part-time students who are already working in the IT sector.
