Life Sciences Informatics Research Group
The Department is a leading centre of research in the development and application of computational methods for the acquisition, management, analysis and interpretation of biological and medical information. A particular focus is on developing methods for the management, integration and analysis of life sciences data. We have strong links with biologists and other scientists and clinicians, and we collaborate with researchers from Birkbeck's Department of Crystallography, the Birkbeck/UCL Joint School of Biomolecular Sciences, the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) Cambridge, and several medical institutions.
Researchers from the Department are active within the Bloomsbury Centre for Bioinformatics and the Institute for Structural Molecular Biology. We collaborate with many research groups nationally and internationally, and have a number of ongoing research projects funded by BBSRC and Wellcome Trust.
