Data cleaning techniques have largely been rather ad hoc, vertical, and rigid activities. We present some recent developments in the area that are more declarative and generic. More specifically, we consider on-the-fly quality query answering wrt integrity constraints, and matching dependencies for entity resolution. We also propose a model of contexts for data quality assessment.
