60 years of Programming at Birkbeck

May 2nd 1952 was the day when Birkbeck's best known pioneer computer, APE(X)C, first successfully executed a progarm. The talk will review Booth's work leading up to that day including a number of new pictures and documents that have come to light. An introduction will be given to its programming facilities. The talk will conclude with a brief overview of Turing's impact on Booth's work.
