This is a first-year, one term, practical course that provides an introduction to spreadsheet and statistical software and aims to develop skills that will be useful in a business environment.

SPSS Test

Attendance

All students are required to attend the lectures.

NOTE: A minimum attendance of 70% is a requirement for passing the module.

The practical exercises may be done elsewhere if the appropriate PC software is available.

The software used on the module will be:
Windows XP
MS Excel 2003
SPSS

Assessment

Assessment is by two in-class, practical tests. Note the dates from the module outline above.

NOTE: YOU ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE THE TESTS ON THE DATES SPECIFIED. YOU MUST ENSURE THAT YOU ARE ABLE TO ATTEND COLLEGE ON THESE EVENINGS.

If you are unable to attend on the day of the test because of sickness or other serious personal problems you must inform the tutor IN ADVANCE preferably by email or otherwise by phone. You will normally also be required to provide a medical certificate or other documentary evidence of the reason for your absence.

There will be no further opportunity to take the tests for students who do not comply with the above.

Practice tests

Practice tests will be available in WebCT one week before the final test for each part of the module.

Test Information

Before taking the tests you should familiarise yourself with the details of Test regulations and procedures

There will be two groups for each test.

GROUP A 6:00 pm
GROUP B 7:30 pm.

SPSS Test Groups

A list of groups and room details will be published on this page in advance of each test. Note the session and lab which you are expected to attend. You must attend the specified session.
Please arrive promptly. There will be no extra time allowed for late arrivals

You must make sure that you have checked your computer login details before the evening of the test. Tests will take place using WebCT so you need to check that you are able to login to the module in WebCT prior to the test. Essential computer account checks

Make-up tests

May 2009

6 - 7pm Excel
7.30 - 8.30pm SPSS

Note these tests are for students who have missed the original test due to health or personal problems. In order to be allowed to take the make-up test, extenuating circumstances must be agreed with the School of Management who will provide the tutor with a list of students who have been given permission to take the make-up test.
There are no other opportunities to take the tests.
