I am currently studying a Master's degree in Advanced Information Systems (AIS) at Birkbeck College, which is part of the University of London, on a part-time basis. I decided to study a Master's degree in AIS in order to fill some of the knowlegde gaps that have been created by my first degree and working in the industry.

My previous degree was a BSc Hons. in Applied Computing and Computer Communications. The Applied computing major was predominanly made up of computer programming in various programming languages like Assembly, Pascal, C, C++, Java, etc. The Computer Communications major concentrated on the various network technologies, topologies, protocols and their implementations.

Profession      top of page

I currently work, as a Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) developer for a broadcasting company based in London. One of the major areas I have concentrated on over the past couple of years has been the development of J2EE compliant web applications. The framework of choice for the web development is an open source project, created by the Apache Software Foundation (ASF), called Struts . Some of the technologies I use to carry out my job are Struts, JSP, EJB, JDBC, Servlets, etc.

Interests      top of page

My interest in distributed computing and client server technologies was brought on by the content of first degree. Since I graduated I have been very interested in the possibilites and capabilities of distributed computing. Majority of my work involves working with location-transparent distributed applications.

When I am not working and studying, I try and keep fit, by going to the gym as well as swimming and cycling on occassions.
