XML

Aims and Objectives

The aim of this course is to provide a wide-ranging introduction to the basic principles of XML and to provide practice with creating XML data sources. Why XML?.

A good, all-round introduction to XML can be found in Erik Ray's Learning XML [Ray 2001]. Programmers might get more out of Deitel, et.al. XML How to Program [Deitel 2001]. There are numerous web sites devoted to XML, most reachable from the World Wide Web Consortium's site [W3C]. A number of these are described briefly towards the end of the Introduction.
