Our department (A. Provetti) is partner to the AHRC-funded research project "The Design Generator".
Together with the Principal investigator Dr J. Mckim from the Department of Film, Media & Cultural studis and the Victoria and Albert Museum London (V&A) we have developed an AI model that is trained on the V&A collection and automatically generates images of design objects from a textual description.
Thanks to AHRC funding Daphne Demekas and Jo Lawson-Tancred have been hired as research assistants to develop the model and an interface accessible to the general public of the V&A museum.
The new image generation model will be presented at the V&A Digital Design Weekend (23-25 September).
We will be running drop-in workshops at the following times:
Friday 18:45 to 19:45,
Saturday and Sunday 13:00 to 14:00,
in the Residency Studio 2, Sackler Centre for Arts Education (level 1),
V&A Museum, South Kensington.
The Design Generator will also be on permanent display through the Digital Design Weekend from 10am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday.
