Employer Accreditation
The BSc Digital and Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship has Tech Industry Gold Accreditation. Tech Industry Gold degrees and degree apprenticeship programmes have been assessed as meeting the employer-relevant standards defined by the Tech Partnership, the employer led apprenticeship trailblazer group which sets the academic standards for D&TS degrees.
Aims
The Degree enables apprentices working in a software development role to develop their understanding of theoretical issues in the area of Software Engineering. The programme also has a strong emphasis on the development of software development skills, through hands-on, lab-based teaching.This includes opportunities for apprentices to undertake a significant software development project.

Employers
We aim to work in close collaboration with employers to produce first-class software engineering graduates/professionals. We offer a comprehensive package of employer engagement and support throughout the Degree apprenticeship. This includes:
- Dedicated employer liaison staff
- Initial planning meeting
- Termly progress meetings
- Regular progress reports
- Work-based learning modules
- Active involvement in project selection and supervision
Students
We aim to support students in all areas of their study throughout the lifetime of their Degree Apprenticeship. We offer:
- Academic mentors
- Peer mentors
- A wide range of academic support services, including generic skills workshops, one-to-one tutorials
- Drop-in sessions
- Termly progress meetings
Entry requirements
Employers will have their own selection requirements, usually involving successful completion of an interview.
Birkbeck requires the following minimum qualifications:
- Maths and English GCSE grade A-C or equivalent
- Three A-level at grades BBC or acceptable alternatives totalling 112 UCAS points (e.g. BTEC Diploma in Information Technology, Extended Diploma at Level 3).
For applicants over 21 who do not meet the above entry criteria entry is via a short admissions test in Maths and English.
Delivery
Birkbeck’s unique delivery mode allows apprentices to work during the day and study during the evening.

To secure a place on the BSc Digital and Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship at Birkbeck you must apply to an employer in response to an advertised apprenticeship vacancy. The employer will then make an application to the University on your behalf. You cannot apply for this degree via UCAS.
